Tom L. Newton

Experience

Tom L. Newton, Jr., a shareholder in the firm, is a trial lawyer with experience representing clients in a wide range of litigation in both State and Federal courts. His practice is focused primarily on property owners associations, including drafting of restrictive covenants, collection of assessments, enforcement of deed restrictions and related matters. Mr. Newton has been "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.

Professional Activities and Memberships

Mr. Newton is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Federal Bar Association, and the San Antonio Bar Association. Mr. Newton was on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Chapter of Community Associations Institute for several years, and is a past President of that organization. He also has served as a Director, Treasurer and Secretary of the Neighborhood Resource Center. Mr. Newton lectures regularly on property owners' association law issues. He is also a member of the William S. Sessions American Inns of Court. Mr. Newton has also been Board Certified in Property Owners Association Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Education

Mr. Newton received a B.B.A. in 1988 with a major in Accounting from the University of Texas. In 1991 he graduated from Baylor University with a J.D. and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, Western, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
